TCI receives Contract for Spectrum Monitoring System from Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission
Fremont, CA - October 7, 2005
TCI has been awarded, in a partnership with a Malaysian company, a $13 million contract to supply a nationwide integrated Spectrum Monitoring system to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). The contract will include 22 of the company's Model 700 Series Spectrum Monitoring Systems, installed at various locations throughout Malaysia. TCI's delivery contract will be completed in six months.
As a part of its Spectrum Management function, the MCMC engages in:
"Spectrum Monitoring to ensure that frequencies are properly used." Monitoring and Inspection exercises include:
- systematic inspection of facility to ensure compliance with set technical standards and parameters
- measuring of technical parameters or the emission of facility"1
TCI's wideband spectrum monitoring system will allow MCMC to monitor and locate radio transmitters, and verify their compliance with licensed spectrum usage. Approximately 200 systems of this type have been already delivered by TCI to other telecommunication regulators in Europe, Asia, Africa, Central and South America.
