TCI Receives Contract for Spectrum Monitoring and Management Systems from the Botswana Telecommunications Authority
Fremont, CA - February 19, 2004
TCI has been awarded an $11 million contract to supply an integrated Spectrum Management and Monitoring system to the Botswana Telecommunications Authority (BTA). This multi-phase contract will include 18 of TCI 700-series Spectrum Monitoring Systems, 16 of which will be installed in remote monitoring facilities and 2 of which will be provided in mobile vehicular configurations. Under the terms of the contact, TCI will also provide its specialized Model 710 Automated Spectrum Management Software (ASMS) product. The contract, which includes installation, will be executed over a 24-month period.
The Botswana Telecommunications Authority (BTA) is one of the preeminent agencies of its type in Africa, and is at the forefront of establishing many of the spectrum monitoring techniques and standards adopted on the African continent. The BTA will use these systems to establish a nationwide network of Spectrum Monitoring Systems to monitor, control and license their wireless spectrum.
The TCI systems cover the 9 kHz - 3000 MHz frequency range and utilize the latest radio and signal processing technology allowing regulators like the BTA to manage, oversee and control their wireless spectrum from a central location in the capital city of Gaborone. TCI's ASMS management software product provides tools for propagation and engineering analysis, frequency license administration and processing, and fee management and collection.
