TCI International, Inc. Announces a New Contract with the Communications Authority of Zambia
FREMONT, CA – November 6, 2007 - TCI International, Inc., has signed a contract with the Communications Authority of Zambia for the supply, installation, and commissioning of a National Radio Spectrum Management and Monitoring System.
The contract calls for TCI to supply its Model 710 Automated Spectrum Management System (ASMS) and a National Control Center (NCC) to be located at the Communications Authority Headquarters in Lusaka. TCI will also supply and commission three Model 745 Fixed Spectrum Monitoring Systems (SMS) to be located in Lusaka and Ndola, and one Mobile SMS supporting operations throughout Zambia. All of the TCI supplied equipment will be linked via a TCP/IP network that allows remote unattended operation from any network node.
Once installed, TCI’s supplied system will provide monitoring capabilities covering the entire HF/VHF/UHF/SHF spectrum ranging from 9 kHz to 40 GHz. The Model 745 SMS utilizes a unique, dual 20/2 MHz bandwidth capability that makes monitoring both conventional and modern digital communication signals possible in single equipment configuration.
Mr. Shuller Habeenzu, Chief Executive Office of the Communications Authority stated, “with the growth of wireless industry, the Authority is witnessing a significant rise in demand for radio frequency spectrum: hence the need for a prudent national radio spectrum management and monitoring system. We are positive that, through the partnership with TCI, we will be able to ensure efficient and effective utilisation of this increasingly critical resource in ICT sector in Zambia.”
Mr. JB Ballard, President of TCI, stated, “Our selection as the vendor of choice is a reaffirmation of our leading technology position within the spectrum monitoring community. I’m confident that our advanced technology approach combined with our reputation for providing excellent post-delivery support will be well received by the Communications Authority in Zambia.”
